Why train with us

Coaching built for how PTE actually scores you

PTE rewards fluency, structure and accuracy under a clock — not memorised templates. Pearson's recent updates specifically target template answers, so the old "fill-in-the-blank essay" tricks are fading. That plays to our strength: we've taught people to actually speak and write English since 1986.

AI

AI-graded practice, like the exam

Your essays, summaries and spoken responses are scored by AI on the same dimensions Pearson uses — content, form, fluency, pronunciation, grammar. You see your weak spots in numbers before you sit the real thing.

★

A real trainer, not just a score

An AI score tells you where you stand. Our trainer tells you how to move — which task types are dragging your band down, and the specific habits to fix to gain points fastest.

▣

Full-format practice material

Every PTE task type is covered: Read Aloud, Repeat Sentence, Describe Image, Summarize Written Text, Write Essay, Write from Dictation, and the newer Summarize Group Discussion and Respond to a Situation tasks.

🎤

Speaking is where most people lose points

On PTE, your Speaking score has to be noticeably higher than your overall to match the same band — and it's the hardest skill to lift alone. Live fluency drills with a trainer is exactly what a machine can't give you at home.

Know the test

What the PTE actually is — in plain terms

PTE Academic is a two-hour, fully computer-based English test, sat at a Pearson test centre. It's AI-scored, so results come back fast — usually within about two days.

Three sections, one sitting

Speaking & Writing (combined), then Reading, then Listening. You speak into a headset microphone only during the first section — Reading and Listening are typed and clicked.

No human examiner

There's no face-to-face interview. You speak into a mic and AI grades the recording. No conversation, no follow-up questions — which many candidates find less nerve-wracking once they've practised it.

Integrated scoring

One task can earn marks in two skills at once — e.g. Repeat Sentence counts toward both Speaking and Listening. So a weak habit in one place can quietly cost you in another.

Scores & acceptance

What score do you actually need?

PTE is scored from 10 to 90, overall and for each skill. Most universities ask for far less than people assume. Here's how PTE lines up against IELTS and what each band tends to unlock.

PTE score≈ IELTS bandWhat it typically meets
506.0Many undergraduate programmes · "Competent English" for some visas
58–646.5The everyday ask for most undergrad & postgrad admissions
657.0Most postgraduate programmes · "Proficient English" for migration points
73+7.5Competitive and top-tier universities
79+8.0"Superior English" — maximum migration points (e.g. Australia)

Equivalences are based on official Pearson–IELTS concordance and are indicative. Always confirm the exact requirement on your university or visa programme's own website — many publish requirements in IELTS bands even when they accept PTE.

PTE is accepted by 3,000+ institutions worldwide, all Australian and New Zealand universities, for UK visa purposes, and a growing list across the USA, Canada, Ireland and Germany. It's especially popular for Australia and Canada study and PR routes.

Common questions

PTE, answered

What is the PTE exam?

PTE stands for Pearson Test of English. PTE Academic is a computer-based English proficiency test used for university admission, professional registration and migration. It tests Speaking, Writing, Reading and Listening through integrated tasks, all at a test centre, all scored by AI.

How is it scored?

On a scale of 10 to 90 — for your overall score and for each of the four skills. Scoring is done by AI (with some human review added recently to catch copied or templated answers). Because tasks are integrated, one task can contribute to more than one skill's score.

Is there a face-to-face speaking interview like IELTS?

No. You speak into a microphone and the recording is graded by AI. There's no examiner, no conversation and no follow-up questions. You speak only during the first section (Speaking & Writing); Reading and Listening are typed and clicked.

PTE or IELTS — which should I take?

If you're comfortable with computers and prefer predictable, fast, AI-based scoring, PTE often suits you. If you'd rather speak to a real person and don't mind a longer wait for results, IELTS may fit better. They're accepted in broadly the same places, so it often comes down to your comfort with the format — and where you're applying. Call us and we'll help you pick.

Is PTE easier than IELTS?

Neither is objectively easier — it depends on your strengths. Many find PTE's marking more predictable and like that they're not judged by a person. But PTE's Speaking score has to run higher than your overall to match the same IELTS band, so Speaking is often the binding constraint. That's exactly the part live coaching helps most with.

What score do I need?

Most universities ask for somewhere around 58–65 (≈ IELTS 6.5–7.0). Competitive universities want 73+, and 79+ is "Superior English" territory used for maximum migration points. You rarely need 80+ for admission — that's exceptional. Tell us your target country and course and we'll give you the exact number.

How fast are the results?

Usually within about 48 hours — often faster. That's one of PTE's biggest practical advantages over IELTS and TOEFL, especially if you're working to an application deadline.

Is PTE accepted where I'm applying?

PTE Academic is accepted by 3,000+ institutions, all Australian and New Zealand universities, for UK visa purposes, and a growing number in the USA, Canada, Ireland and Germany. Note that Canadian economic migration (Express Entry) uses a separate test, PTE Core — ask us if that's your route.

Can I retake the test?

Yes — there's no official limit on attempts, though you must wait for your previous result before booking again. Your score report is valid for two years. Our coaching focuses on closing the specific gap that's holding your band down, so a retake actually moves the needle.

Do I really need coaching, or can I self-study?

You can self-study reading and listening. Where people get stuck is Speaking and Writing — the AI-graded parts — because it's hard to judge your own fluency and structure, and the recent updates have made template tricks unreliable. A trainer who can hear your habits and read your essays is the fastest way to a higher band.
